Volker Bettag joined Motive Partners in 2025 as Consultant Vice President, Cyber Security and Cyber Technology on the Create team.

At Motive, Volker is responsible for conducting the Cyber Security assessments and provides advisory in the Cyber and AI security domain for Motive’s portfolio companies.

Volker brings deep technical expertise in the fields of Cloud architecture, SDLC, BCM, Cyber Security, InfoSec as well as AI guardrails. Additionally, he supports 2 certification bodies in Germany as a  professional ISO-27001 ISMS auditor.  Volker provides DORA, NIS2, ISO, NIST, SOC2 cross-framework expertise with business knowledge in capital markets and payments and he has a special focus on IT risk.  

Prior to joining Motive, Volker served 3.5 years as CIO and CISO at LPA, a FinTech providing Cap/Reg-Tech-Reporting SaaS solutions. As CIO/CISO Volker was driving cloud transformation, ISMS, SOC2 type certification leading the DevOps, Cloud and Support Operations teams.  Prior to LPA, Volker served 10+ years at Deutsche Bank in various roles as Cloud Officer, Solution Architect, Service Manager in IT-Outsourcing, IT Risk & Compliance, Finance and Trading technology. Volker began his career as an independent consultant to a broad range of companies in the financial industry including Mizuho (SG/NY), Commerz (FRA/NY), Deutsche Bank (FRA/LDN) and various GER loan saving banks.

Volker holds an Engineer in Information Technology Diploma at University of Cooperative Education Mannheim and a postgraduate diploma Investment Consultant, Capital Market Products and Portfolio Management at European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel and Deutsche Boerse Group.
