Andy Stewart has been building and leading alternative investing businesses across some of the most successful asset management firms and global banks.
Most recently, Mr. Stewart co-led BlackRock’s alternative investment platform (BAI), serving as Managing Director and Global Co-Head of BlackRock Alternative Investors and BlackRock Alternative Specialists, which included private markets (private equity and credit), public markets (hedge funds) and real assets (infrastructure and real estate). Mr. Stewart chaired BAI’s Executive Committee, was a member of the BAI investment committee and served on BlackRock’s firm-wide global operating and human capital committees. During his tenure, he helped grow the business to over $92 billion in assets under management and more than $1 billion in revenues.
At Credit Suisse, Mr. Stewart was Head of Liquid Alternatives, across hedge fund strategies in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America, as well as global credit, commodities and insurance teams.
Before joining Credit Suisse, Mr. Stewart was President and Chief Operating Officer at Man Investments (Man) in the U.S. He helped build Man into one of the largest publicly traded alternative asset management firms (over £5 billion market cap during his tenure). While at Man, he was part of the team leading the development and implementation of the firm’s strategy. In addition, he rebuilt Man’s U.S. business and developed its market leading managed accounts platform.
Mr. Stewart received a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington where he served as an Editor of the Indiana Law Journal, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a CAIA charter-holder.
